Homecoming parade

The temperature was a chilly 38 degrees when the Montezuma-Cortez High School Marching Panthers kicked off the Homecoming parade Friday. Rain, sleet and cold temps didn’t stop the parade, but forced students to bundle up to stay warm.
Montezuma-Cortez High School students decorate golf carts in the Cortez Middle School parking lot just before the Homecoming parade Friday. The carts served as transportation for the homecoming royalty during the parade.

The moose routine was in reference to Friday night’s Homecoming football game. The M-CHS Panthers played the Alamosa Mean Moose. “He’s a dead moose,” Heaton said.

Four-year-old Atticus Keel went to the homecoming parade prepared for foul weather. Dressed in a raincoat, rain boots and holding an umbrella, Keel didn’t let a little rain stop him from collecting candy.
