This little blue-eyed clown is one of many kittens that have arrived at the shelter that need a home. They range in ages from 8 to 12 weeks old, and a few of the colors and types available are black and white, tiger tabbies, lilac points, calicos, and one tiny orange spotted tabby who has earned the nickname Pistol. There are also some wonderful adult cats who are socialized, affectionate and very hopeful about getting a new home. One of them can help you deal with any mice that decide to move in as the weather gets cold. The shelter has many other homeless pets available for adoption, and is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is open on alternate Fridays. The shelter will be open this Friday. Right now, the shelter needs nonclumping cat litter, Pedigree adult dog food and Pedigree or Purina puppy chow, dog treats, chew toys, and rawhide chews to keep the many dogs and puppies there occupied. They also need cleaning supplies such as paper towels, dish soap, and bleach. As always, the shelter appreciates all the donations that the community brings in; every little bit helps. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910. To view more animals, visit www.petfinder.com (enter 81321 zip code) or http://www.cityofcortez.com/government/animal_shelter.
