Shoppers showed up to search through the packs at the Osprey Packs locals sale Friday in Cortez.

The sale started at 7 a.m. and was scheduled to run until noon or until there was no more inventory. Osprey Vice President of Sales Jeff Busic said there was a big rush at the beginning of the sale, but the crowd had died down by mid-morning.

“There’s been lots of traffic and excitement,” he said.

This time around, the company held the sale in a different building, across the road from its main office in Industrial Park.

Busic said the building had previously been used for cold storage. Osprey is building a new headquarters in Cortez, so the company was in the process of moving things out of the storage building to the new office. It was mostly empty, so they decided to hold the sale there, Busic said.

Child carriers and water packs were among the quickest to sell, Busic said.

Portions of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to Montezuma School to Farm Project and Breast Cancer Prevention Partners Climb Against the Odds, Busic said.
