Vixen is figuring she’s ready to bust out of here. She and her pal, Griffin, were surrendered by a family who are moving away and not able to take their two cats. Vixen is a gorgeous glossy-black spayed female with light green eyes; she’s 6 years old, and is very outgoing and gregarious. She has lived for years with her pal, Griffin (not shown), age 3, a smaller, beautiful brown tabby spayed female. Griffin is more shy, but has been very happy living with Vixen, and becomes real affectionate after some good petting. Both of these girls have been declawed, and must go to an indoor-only home, since they have no natural defenses. The home they came from had a toddler, so they are used to, and good with kids. They have not lived with dogs. Vixen was originally adopted from the Durango Humane Society five years ago; Griffin was a rescue kitty. It would be wonderful if these two could go to a new home together, but it isn’t a requirement. A good, safe home with a loving owner or family is the goal. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. The shelter will be open this Friday. Right now, the shelter needs non-clumping cat litter, Purina puppy chow, Purina or Pedigree adult dog food, Iams or Purina adult cat food, and all sorts of dog treats or chews to keep the dogs and puppies there occupied. As the season for giving and sharing approaches, please don’t forget our community’s homeless and stray pets. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910.
