When folks have experienced the death of a loved one, loss of their health or financial security, watched those they love struggle with these or many other difficult situations, or is dealing with pure out-and-out loneliness, it can be hard to join in Christmas merriment. A “Blue Christmas” service is a way for those folks to gather, acknowledge their pain and loss, and at the same time, engage with the Christmas story.
