Catholic chapter offers scholarships, contest

The Catholic Daughters of the America’s local chapter is accepting entrants for this year’s Education contest.Poetry, essay, art, computer art, music and photography are the categories this year. First prize is $25; second prize is $15.This year’s themes are “Inspiring Others to Grow” and “Planting Seeds of Faith.” Entrants in 4th grade through adult can apply. The deadline for entrants is February 13.

The Catholic Daughters of the America’s National organization is again offering an education scholarship to JCDA members. High school seniors going into college can apply for the $1,000 scholarship. Catholic eighth graders going into high school should apply for a $500 scholarship. CDA graduate students or those who have a relative who is a current CDA member should apply for the Father Leonard Bachman Graduate Scholarships. First prize is $3,000 and second prize is $1,000. Deadlines are in the spring.

The public can obtain applications on the Montelores Catholic Community website at www.montelorescatholiccommunity.orgunder CDA.
