Tuesday, Aug. 15

6:46 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of North Mildred Road on a warrant for failure to appear on a local felony charge and on suspicion of unlawful possession and distribution of a controlled substance. A bag of meth was found in his pocket and two more bags were found in a binoculars case on the dashboard of his vehicle, containing a total of about 6.6 grams.

10:42 p.m.: A man was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St. for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor.

Wednesday, Aug. 16

3:08 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being taken to jail, because of intoxication. Another man was issued a summons on suspicion of possessing alcohol in the park.

7:08 p.m.: A man was arrested in the parking lot of Dolores State Bank, 744 E. Main St., on a warrant from the Colorado Department of Corrections for failure to appear on a felony charge. Because of the man’s violent criminal history, the responding officer pointed a stun gun at him during the arrest. The suspect reportedly shouted threats and banged his head against the side of the patrol vehicle before calming down enough to get inside. He reportedly continued to threaten police and jail staff throughout the booking process and banged his head on walls, doors and windows inside the jail.

7:27 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of West Seventh Street on three misdemeanor warrants and one felony warrant. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital after reports he had been cutting himself and was treated for marijuana and meth intoxication.

8:42 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of South Linden Street on a warrant for failure to appear on an out-of-county misdemeanor charge.

Thursday, Aug. 17

2:24 p.m.: Police responded to a report of property damage in the 200 block of West Seventh Street. A woman claimed someone had driven through her fence, causing about $400 in damage. The case remains under investigation.

7:33 p.m.: A man was arrested in the parking lot of Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge after another man claimed he had pulled a crowbar on him during an argument.

9:13 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at Safeway, 1580 E. Main St. Store employees claimed he had tried to steal a 20-ounce beer can valued at $3.49.

11 p.m.: A man was arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge and on suspicion of violating a protection order. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

Friday, Aug. 18

3:22 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 800 block of South Broadway on suspicion of unlawfully possessing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was pulled over for weaving and driving with a cracked windshield. A bag of meth and a glass pipe were found in her vehicle.

8:47 a.m.: A man was arrested at National 9 Motel, 301 W. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

10:08 a.m.: Two people were arrested in the 600 block of South Washington Street, one on two active warrants and the other on three.

Saturday, Aug. 19

12 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of South Chestnut Street on suspicion of being intoxicated in a roadway after the managers of a trailer park reported he was trespassing. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

10:40 a.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 500 block of North Elm Street. A woman reported a window on the driver’s side of her mother’s truck had been shattered, causing about $300 in damage. The woman said she suspected a man who had been asked to leave her property the day before, and that she suspected the man of slashing her own vehicle’s tires two weeks ago. The case remains under investigation.

5 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Montezuma Avenue on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor.

10:19 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 11000 block of County Road 26 on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and disregarding a stop sign. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication and because he told officers he suffered from pulmonary fibrosis.
