Fairgrounds to host food-safety class

The Colorado State University Extension Office will sponsor a four-hour course for restaurant food-service workers, which covers basic requirements for safe-food handling, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the extension building at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

The class also fulfills requirements for Cottage Food Tier 1 producers and is available to non-English speakers.

Participants will receive a Food Safety Works Wallet Card, valid for one year, after they pass an exam.

Cost is $35 per person, and registration is required by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
