Feela book an award finalist

Colorado Humanities and Center for the Book recently announced its 2012 Colorado Book Award Finalists, for books published in 2011.

“With a record number of submissions, our panel of selectors was excited and challenged by the many works submitted,” Program Coordinator Christine Goff said. “The Colorado Book Awards is one of the country’s oldest book awards programs and it just keeps getting better.”

“How Delicate These Arches” by David Feela has been chosen as a finalist in the category for Creative Nonfiction. Published by Raven’s Eye Press in Durango, the book was released in the fall of 2011.

David Feela, a retired Cortez teacher and freelance writer, lives in Arriola. He publishes monthly columns for the Four Corners Free Press and the Durango Telegraph, as well as occasional syndicated editorials for High Country News’s Writers On the Range.

Winners will be announced on Friday, June 22, during the 21st Annual Colorado Book Awards ceremony, the culminating event for the Aspen Summer Words Literary Festival hosted by the Aspen Writers Foundation.
