4 Corners volleyball camp



The ninth annual 4 Corners volleyball camp, hosted by Mancos High School and coach Ramona Shepherd, will be held June 18-20. The clinicians will again be Adams State College coach Lindy Mortensen and her Grizzlies volleyball players. Numbers have grown so much (75 last year and campers were turned away), that there is no more room in Mancos. The camp is moving to Cortez. High school players will be at Montezuma-Cortez High School and middle school players will be at Cortez Middle School. The cost per camper will be $90 this year. There is only have room for 100 campers, so early sign-up is important. For more information or a sign-up sheet, please call Shepherd at 560-1411 or Barb Chappell at 570-9990. Sign-up early to reserve a spot before the camp is full.




Southwest Football Camp



The annual youth Southwest Football Camp will again be held this year in Dolores on Thursday and Friday, June 21-22, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. This is a non-contact camp for all second- through-eighth-graders in the area to improve and learn new football skills. Enrollment forms can be picked up at the Cortez Recreation Center on the wall inside the front doors, or at High Mesa Designs, located at 44 East Main Street in Cortez. Knocker Athletic Club Softball Rendezvous



Knocker Athletic Club is hosting the Knocker Softball Rendezvous in Dolores the weekend of June 23-24. Open, recreation, and men’s and women’s brackets are Saturday. Coed brackets are Sunday. It’s a 4-game guarantee. Tourney entry fee is $200. Awards based on number of teams. Champions will receive 14 Champion Dri-Fit shirts. Entry deadline is Thursday, June 21, at 6 p.m. To register, call Charles See at 560-3423.




M-CHS youth volleyball camp



The Montezuma-Cortez High School Lady Panthers will hold their annual fourth- through-sixth-grade coed youth volleyball camp. The camp is June 26-28, from 9 a.m. to noon at the M-CHS Main Gym. Camp fee is $60. Please arrive 15 minutes early to register on the first day. Camp clinicians are M-CHS coach Barbara Chappell and Cortez Middle School coach Valorie Bauer. Assistants will be M-CHS alumni and current volleyball players. To preregister, contact Chappell at 570-9990 or Bauer at 799-4880.




Cortez Burst Triathlon



The third annual Cortez Burst Triathlon will be held on July 4, at Parque de Vida. The race begins at 7 a.m. and adult participants will swim 500 meters, bike 16 miles and run three miles. Teams of two or three people are welcome. It’s a fun event for the whole family. Also, there are children’s and youth triathlons, and a high school team challenge, where teams from area schools compete against each other. All proceeds go toward Cortez Friends of Recreation for a Healthy Community and help provide scholarships for income-qualified people to use the Cortez Recreation Center. Ute Mountain strongman competition



The second annual Ute Mountain Recreation Center, strongman competition, is set for Saturday, July 14, at the Ute Mountain Rec. Center parking lot in Towaoc. It’s a $10 entry fee, one open division and five competitions for men and women. The top score wins it all, which is a trophy, cash prize and dinner. Tri-City Soccer registrations



Tri-City Soccer is currently taking registrations for the 2012-2013 seasons through Saturday, July 21. Register now to guarantee a spot for your child. Click the PLAYER REGISTRATION tab at www.tricitysoccer.com to register online or print a registration form. Forms can also be picked up at the Cortez Recreation Center. Cortez Leopard Sharks swimming



Come swim with the Cortez Leopard Sharks swimming team. The swim season has just started and registration is ongoing throughout the spring and summer swim season. Practices are currently being held at the indoor pool of the Cortez Recreation Center on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 p.m. If interested in joining the team, want to improve swimming and make new friends, please feel free to come by and observe a practice and talk with the coaches. Children and adults are welcome to join. Registration forms can be requested at cortezsharks@gmail.com, through the team’s Facebook page of Cortez Leopard Sharks, or picked up at the Cortez Rec. Kokopelli Bike and Board events



Monday night trail maintenance — 5:30 p.m. at the Boggy Draw parking lot. Check the www.kokopellibikeclub.org for details.

Monday night group road rides — Leaving 6:15 from the pub (Dolores River Brewery) and going to Flanders Park in Dolores.

Tuesday night time trials (TT) — 6, warm up, and 6:30 start. Meet at the Boggy Draw parking lot.

Girl’s Wednesday night group ride — starting at 5:30 at Boggy Draw.

Bike polo in Cortez — Wednesday nights at 6:30 — check www.kokopellibikeclub.org for directions.

Thursday night group “night” rides — Boggy Draw at 7:30.

Saturday road bike group ride — 9 a.m. at Kokopelli Bike & Board.




Open adult soccer
