Pet of the Week

Time is running out for these two pals. Smokey and Mow Mow were two buddies dropped off at the shelter three months ago by their family, who were moving. Smokey had been featured as Pet of the Week in November, and now finds herself again hoping for adoption through no fault of her own. She has begun to give up, and is showing signs of depression, such as turning her back while in her cage when folks come to visit. Although she is losing hope, she perks up when taken out of her cage to play and get petted but she always ends up back in that cage. She is a wonderful, affectionate cat, a gray and white long-legged girl with a noble Egyptian profile and the most spectacular lime-green and yellow eyes. She has a big, perfect circle on her side. She is playful and affectionate ... and desperate. Mow Mow was her pal at the home she was in, and is a beautiful black and white female with a goatee, big yellow eyes and a high-pitched squeaky voice. She gives the impression of roundness, where Smokey is the stretch limo of cats. Mow Mow came to the shelter very shy, but has come out of her shell and is also very affectionate. It is hoped that there will be a happy end to their story and to that goal, the shelter is offering a substantial discount on adoption fees for one or both of these girls, who have already been spayed. The shelter staff love these two, and are very anxious to find them a happy indoor-only home, either together or apart. Hopefully someone will step up and be a hero to these two deserving cats. They and the other lonely pets at the shelter really need a cuddle and a fresh start, including other sweet adult cats and lots and lots of kittens. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. They will be closed this Friday. They really need donations of non-clumping cat litter, unscented bleach and dish soap. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910.
