A smile as wide as Texas, and a big ol’ heart to match. Tipper is a 1-year-old Labrador retriever/hound mix, a neutered male. His third time in the shelter, Tipper’s been misunderstood. He’s a sweet guy, and gets along great with other dogs. He is very boisterous and high-energy, so he really needs a home with someone who is also active and can make sure he gets all the exercise he needs. He’d also be great with a big yard and another dog to play and run around with. Tipper is young, and will mellow with time. He’d be terrific as a runner’s companion. This sweet golden boy with the matching eyes and long white legs and markings is all ready to go ... he’s current will all his vaccines and is microchipped as well. Hopefully, there is someone out there who will be the perfect match for his joyous and bouncy personality. He and the other lonely critters at the shelter really need a fresh start, including the other dogs, some beautiful cats and lots of kittens. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. They will be open this Friday. The shelter needs donations of non-clumping cat litter, Iams or Purina kitten chow, and cleaning supplies such as plain bleach, dry dishwasher soap, liquid laundry soap, and liquid dish soap. They also could really use some new hard dog toys for the shelter dogs to chew on. All pet adoptions at the shelter include having the new addition to your family fixed and microchipped. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910. To view more animals, visit www.petfinder.com or www.petango.com (enter 81321 zip code for each) or www.cityofcortez.com/government/animal_shelter.
