Debbie Merritt, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ed Merritt of Dolores, left on Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Revis Higgins for Lamar, Colo., where she will be competing for the title of Colorado State Sheriff’s Posse Queen.

Mr. and Mrs. M. Z. Wishon from Long Beach, Calif. were visitors at The Star office on Monday, Sept. 11. Mrs. Wishon was born on Granath Mesa Above Dolores and is a niece of Mrs. Bessie Tebbs. They spent two days visiting in the Dolores area.

Mrs. John Wiman has been a visitor in Dolores for about ten days. She resides in Montrose now.

Betty Bowden has returned to Durango after spending the summer living at home with her parents and working at Southwest Memorial Hospital. Betty will be a full time student at Ft. Lewis College starting this fall.

Mrs. Josie Moore, with her daughter and son-in-law Ted and Laurella Kusel, passed through Dolores on Friday on their way to Rico where they will be spending two weeks. Mrs. Moore was born in Rico and hopes to spend her 90th birthday there later in the month. Her OES Chapter in San Carlos, California where she resides, will be holding a special birthday party for her on Sept. 24. She is a 50-year member of Eastern Star.

Visitors one day last week at the home of the Don McQuaids were his cousin and son Charles. They have a summer home in Silverton but live in California in the winter.

Visiting here last week with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stowe and family were friends form Benicia, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fox: They left Monday to return home.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Rose of Timbo, Arkansas are here spending two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ragland. They are Mrs. Ragland’s parents.

The Bill Raglands are about to get settled in their new home east of Dolores on what will eventually be 19th street.

The WSCS met Thursday in the Methodist Fellowship Hall. Election of officers for the coming year was held.

Visitors from Monday until Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Lambert were her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Conatser and their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Conatser and daughter all of Texas.

Mrs. Harold Hamilton and Minnie Rush visited Mrs. Elmer Brown of Lebanon Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Brown has been on the sick list.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Van Loenen of Bogue, Kansas, left last Wednesday to return to heir home after visiting here with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Clemensen and attending the wedding of their granddaughter.

Mrs. Lena Tibbits took Minnie Rush to see her flowers and those of several of the neighbors Saturday afternoon.

A supper guest of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hamilton Sunday evening was Don Borden of Denver.

Mrs. Inez Robb of Durango was over to spend the day last Thursday with her mother, Mrs. Caddie Plumlee.

Rev. Glenn Lawrence was in Southwest Memorial Hospital last week for tests. He was transferred this week to Mercy Hospital in Durango and is scheduled for back surgery. Rev. Harry Edinger filled his place in the pulpit at the Methodist Church Sunday.

Mrs. Bonnie Clemensen attended a Sarah Coventry Branch meeting at the home of Mrs. Faye Likes near Cortez Monday morning.

Mrs. Mary Butler entered Southwest Memorial Hospital Sunday evening and will have to spend several days there. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Carrigan and family and some friends all took in the stock car races at Thunderbird Speedway Sunday afternoon.
