Bears in action

CONTAINMENT: Dolores quarterback Kolton Shull finds little daylight while trying to escape Bayfield’s Joe Zink (17) and Zane Phelps (14) during last Friday’s home game. The 2A Wolverines trailed the 1A Bears at halftime, 7-6, and never took control until the fourth quarter in a 22-7 win. Non-conference 1A Cedaredge (2-1) visits DHS this Friday, Sept. 14, for a 7 p.m. start.

BREAKAWAY THREAT: Dolores’ Mikeal Ford (28) sheds an ankle tackle by Bayfield’s Kyle Briskey (51) and gains big yardage during last Friday’s home game against the 2A Wolverines. Ford broke a 73-yard TD run late in the first half, helping DHS take — and maintain — a 7-6 lead until the fourth quarter, when BHS separated to win 22-7. Now 1-1 overall, the Bears will host the non-conference 1A Cedaredge Bruins (2-1) tonight.
