Mr. and Mrs. Gary Jones traveled to Ft. Collins this past weekend to attend the 16th annual Alumni Officers Conference at Colorado State University. Gary is president of the Montelores Alumni Assn.

The biggest Rainbow trout caught in twelve years and very possibly the largest ever caught out of Ground Hog was hooked by Gerald Tadgett of Grand Junction, Colo. on Sunday, Sept. 17. The big fish weighs 13 lbs. and measures 30 1/2 inches long. The state record for Rainbow trout stands at 16 lbs.

Dedication ceremonies for the San Juan Basin Area Vocational-Technical School, the first vocational center in Southwestern Colorado, will take place on Thursday, September 28 at 6 p.m. Colorado Lieutenant Governor John Vaderhoof will be the speaker for the dedication ceremonies.

Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Lee hosted a pinochle party on Saturday evening. Guests for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Don McQuaid, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Porter, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Honaker, Hazel Smith, Callie Lofquist, Helen Fogel and Mary Jane McRae. Don won high for the men and Helen for the women.

The Thursday night Bridge Club met at the home of Vaughna McClain on Sept. 14. Prize winners for the evening of play were Judy Tate, Evelyn Tibbits and Betty Harrah.

Mr. and Mrs. John Dodd from Tulsa, Okla, are visiting in the area for a few days. They visited with Mr and Mrs. Chuck Lee on Sunday afternoon. John is a cousin of Lenore Lees.

The Colorado forest Products Bowling team participated in the Four-Corners Interstate Bowling Tournament in Cortez last Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Butler of Santa Clara, Calif. were here visiting Mrs. Butler’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack McCracken of Summit Ridge and also Tom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Butler and his grandmother Mrs. Mary Butler of Dolores. They returned home Saturday.

The family of Ernie Berry treated her to dinner at the Ponderosa Restaurant on Friday, Sept. 15. The occasion was Ernies’ birthday. Later on in the evening Vic and Jeanne Hodges and daughters brought in a birthday cake that was enjoyed by all.

After church on Sunday, Jim and Rowena Porter and Helen Fogel had dinner at the Stoner Alpine Lodge and then drove on up to Rico to enjoy the fall colors.

Rita Gorsuch and two children of Cortez were Saturday afternoon callers of Lottie Fox.

The Friday afternoon bridge club met at the home of Callie Lofquist on Sept. 15. Members present were Lenore Lee, Greta McQuaid, Margaret Nielson, Helen Fogel and Rowena Porter. Guests were Lee Stephens and Emmy Froede. Lee won high, Rowena won send high and Greta won bingo.

Mrs. Mary Ann Deal visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Dalrymple and her granddaughter, Ruth Ann Deal on Sunday. She also enjoyed having Sunday dinner with them.

The Coffee League started bowling again on Wednesday morning.
