Nate Funmaker has had his custom hat-making shop, Nathaniel’s Hats, in the current location for six years. He will be moving at the end of October.

Nate Funmaker, owner of Nathaniel’s Hats on Grand Avenue, will be moving his store location to the two-story location on Mesa Street, across from the Mancos Inn. He hopes to be in his new location by the end of October, he said.

The new owner of the Bauer Bank Building, Richard Vick, has asked that Funmaker pay more than what he is paying now.

“No hard feelings on either side,” said Funmaker. “But I just can’t do it anymore. We’re both bummed.”

He’s been in his current location for six years, he said.

Funmaker’s shop will only be in the lower floor of his new building, which will be a lot less space than he’s used to. “But we’ll be fine,” he said.

The owner of the building on Mesa Street, Kent Rath, will make an entrance on the south side of the building, so that it will be facing Grand Avenue.

“I think it will be a good location,” said Funmaker.
