There will be a benefit for Linda Reed of Cortez, who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Blondie’s Pub & Grub, 45 E. Main St., will host the event on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. Admission is free; there will be a Navajo taco dinner for $5 and a night of music featuring three local bands, including the Moetones, Otis Sykes and Bonfire. The evening will also include raffle items and a silent auction. For more information or to donate an item for the auction or assist with the dinner, contact the organizer, Kimberly Show at 560-3464, Denise Coffman at 570-6987, or Walter Reed at 799-1138. The support of the community in helping Linda will be greatly appreciated.

The Cortez Journal will publish information about events organized by individuals to benefit others who are in need of financial assistance because of an unforeseen emergency. All such notices must include the name and phone number of a contact person responsible for the fundraiser. Each notice will run once in a Saturday edition of the Journal. The Journal cannot be responsible for verifying the financial circumstances of those who may benefit from contributions to these events, and will not run requests to contribute to a bank account opened for such a purpose.
