I was very ashamed to say I was from Cortez on Sept. 22. I went to watch a football game that my 9-year-old grandson had come from Farmington to play against Cortez. I could not believe how unfair the refs were, calling penalties against Farmington and not Cortez for the same thing.

I just wonder what we are teaching our children. That it is okay to cheat for the team you want to win when you are a ref? It is sad to me when you take all the fun out of it for the children when they have to worry about being penalized wrongly. I really think the refs need to set an example of fairness and not favoritism. The boys played good and hard on both teams.
