Sunday, March 25

2:47 p.m.: A man was arrested at City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of an open container violation and possession of alcohol in the park. Police had reportedly cited him twice for the same offenses earlier in the day, but after he received a verbal warning the second time, an officer reportedly saw him walking to the Liquid Assets liquor store. When officers confronted him again, he reportedly was hiding a bottle of vodka in his sleeve. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

5:58 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of criminal mischief in the 1000 block of Cornett Street after some neighbors reported he had broken a window in their house, causing about $300 in damage, and tried to crawl through it. When officers went to the suspect’s house to confront him, he was reportedly bleeding from his arms, holding onto a stack of Bibles and apparently hallucinating. A witness reportedly said he was an alcoholic and had not drunk alcohol for two days. Officers transported him to Southwest Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.

Monday, March 26

12:46 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of South Market Street on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and weaving after an officer reportedly saw his vehicle drifting into the bike lane and almost colliding with a parked vehicle. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

10:55 a.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 400 block of West Seventh Street. A woman reported her prescription medication had been stolen from her home sometime between 3 and 5 p.m., while she was away. The door to her house war reportedly unlocked and the medication was left unsecured next to her bed. The case remains under investigation.

2:19 p.m.: A man was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on a La Plata County misdemeanor warrant and on suspicion of an open container violation and possession of alcohol in the park after police responded to a report of a disturbance near the restrooms. When officers confronted him, he was reportedly sharing a Gatorade bottle full of alcohol with a woman, and had bottles of whiskey and beer in his backpack.

4 p.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant. When police responded to the bonding window, the suspect and a woman were reportedly standing next to each other with their pants down, apparently engaged in some form of sexual contact. An officer told them to pull their pants up and informed them that whatever they were doing had been recorded by security cameras. The woman left, and the man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

8:04 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the Notah Dineh parking lot, 345 W. Main St., on a misdemeanor warrant. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

Tuesday, March 27

1:44 a.m.: Police responded to a report of assault in the 600 block of East Second Street. A man had been admitted to Southwest Memorial Hospital with a large cut above his eye and swelling on his cheeks. He reportedly told police two men had “jumped him” on East Second Street and started punching him. When police questioned him about who the attackers might be, he reportedly refused to give any details, saying he wasn’t a “snitch.”

10:28 a.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 400 block of South Madison Street. A man reported someone had painted graffiti all over his fence. Red and yellow graffiti with the words “Ruzi” and “The 7th Street Crew” was reportedly visible on the fence. The case remains under investigation.

6:45 p.m.: A woman was cited on suspicion of a dog at large violation and owning an unlicensed dog in the 200 block of South Madison Street after police responded to a report of a dog bite in that area. A woman claimed a black lab had bit her on the leg while she was walking down the street, although responding officers saw only a minor scratch on her leg. When an officer confronted the dog’s owner, who was in a vehicle with the dog, she reportedly admitted the dog was not licensed and had not been vaccinated. Officers told the woman the animal would need to be quarantined for 10 days.

6:53 p.m.: A woman was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on suspicion of disturbing the peace after police responded to a report that she was yelling profanity at kids playing at the park. The woman was reportedly holding a Gatorade bottle containing alcohol. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

7:17 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft at KFC, 2222 E. Main St. A woman reported she had accidentally left a bank envelope containing $620 in cash on the counter in the restaurant, and when she came back for it about five minutes later, the employees had told her they hadn’t seen the money. When police spoke to the employees, one of them reportedly said they had seen the woman enter with an envelope, but could not say whether she had put it on the counter. The shift manager reportedly said no one had turned in the envelope, and the restaurant has no security cameras. The case remains under investigation.

7:28 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of South Madison Street on suspicion of aggravated motor vehicle theft after the officer investigating the dog at large violation discovered that the dog owner’s vehicle was listed as stolen out of Utah. The female driver reportedly gave officers the name of a man who owned the vehicle. When officers confronted the man, he reportedly said he had gotten it from another man who was staying on his property. The man he described was already incarcerated at Montezuma County Detention Center on a different charge. Police served both men with vehicle theft charges and contacted law enforcement in San Juan County, Utah, where the vehicle had been stolen.

10:50 p.m.: A man was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant in the 900 block of Memorial Drive after police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area. A witness reportedly said they had heard loud yelling coming from the man’s residence, and a woman who answered the door for police said she and the man had been arguing. The man was reportedly bleeding from his knuckles, and responding officers saw blood on the floor of the residence, as well as an overturned coffee table. Both the man and the woman said they had not been in a physical fight, and the woman did not appear to be injured. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to the cut on his hand.
