ASPEN MARTINEZ, 9, holds up a postcard she made in art class at Dolores Elementary School.

Second-graders got down to business Wednesday, putting the finishing touches on their Dolores postcards, which will be on display Oct. 10 to 29 at the Dolores Town Hall.

“We looked at designs of postcards and talked about designs and what we would put on postcards for this area,” said Mara Vinton, art teacher at Dolores Elementary School.

Alex Mecham, 7, drew McPhee Reservoir.

“I drew a great blue heron at the lake and a turtle and eagles trying to get fish,” he said. “It’s all in Dolores.”Madilynn Ritter, 7, also drew the lake.

“I swim in it sometimes,” she smiled.

Vinton said she hopes the postcard project will help connect students and the community.

Stop by and see the art work at Town Hall, 420 Central Ave. during regular business hours.
