2012 Election notes

Its here, the 2012 election is just around the corner. I would like to take this means to remind everyone of some important dates.

Oct. 9 is the last day to register to vote for this election. You may register online at www.govotecolorado.com or come into the Clerk’s office at 140 W. Main St., Suite 1, Cortez.

You may also simply check the status of your registration at the above web site.

Our ballots are scheduled to be mailed to those who have requested a mail-in ballot the week of October 15th.

One last date of importance is October 22nd. This is the day early voting begins. The last day to early vote is November 2nd. The early voting location for this election will be in the Montezuma County Annex 107 N. Chestnut Street and will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can go to that location between those times and vote but remember to bring some form of identification with you.

For those of you who are receiving a mail-in ballot, there will be a drop off available at the Clerk’s Office, 140 W. Main St. Suite 1 and there will be one available on Saturday November 3rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the County Annex, 107 N. Chestnut St.

Remember Election Day is Nov. 6, 2012 and the polls open at 7 a.m. and close sharply at 7 p.m. Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day in order for it to be counted.
