Greetings on this wonderful autumn day.It is another gorgeous day with the colors still brilliant and not lost due to the wind. The weather forecast for today predicted a windy day, but it is late morning and we see the aspen leaves barely quaking. The quietness of the day is abiding.

Judging from the reports we have been receiving, the pipeline project to bring our new water source into Rico is doing a little catching up after boring through the “S” curves above Rico. They do not call these mountains the Rocky Mountains for no reason! With the perfect weather we are enjoying, it looks like the project will be complete by the time Old Mr. Winter closes us down.

We need to bring the Rico Hotel winter hours up-to-date. Our excellent Chef and manager of the Hotel, Eamonn O’Hara, stated that the Hotel plans on a busy season and guests may plan on a fine continental breakfast. Full restaurant hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings only and hours from 5:00-8:30 p.m., with the same great Early Bird Special menu with $15.00 entree’s from 5 to 6 p.m.

Well! Fifteen minutes ago, I said that the quietness of the day was prevailing, but much to my surprise, we are suddenly being pelted with leaves of gold! My advice to you all is that if you wish to view the splendor of the autumn, jump into your vehicle of choice and hustle us here right this minute. Well-by the time you read this column. this fine day will be history and quite possibly some aspen will be fading away.

I will have a very special report on our UPS friend next week.
