Pink party to be held at Terri’s Hair and nails



Terri’s Hair and Nails and The Ginger Jar will have a Pink Party in support of The Women’s Cancer Coalition Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pink streaks, shimmer, a pink feather or pink polish to your nails can be applied for a donation. No appointments are necessary. All donations stay local. Terri’s Hair and Nails is located on the corner of 4th Street and Highway 145 in Dolores. Call 882-7067 for more information.




League of Women Voters information forum is Oct. 13



The League of Women Voters is presenting a forum to provide information on candidates and issues prior to the election. The forum will be about the state and local issues that will be on the November ballot. It also will be in the Calvin Denton Room at Empire Electric at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. For Pets’ Sake Humane Society to Host Fall Pet Vaccination Clinic



For Pets’ Sake Humane Society will host a Low-Cost Dog and Cat Vaccination Clinic from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the IFA Country Store, 10501 Highway 491 in Cortez.

Veterinarian Dr. Sue Grabbe with Four Corners MASH will offer dog and cat packages which include rabies, distemper, parvo (dogs), leukemia (cats), and more for $39.00 each, or $14.00 for rabies only. Packages without rabies are just $32.00. Exact change is appreciated, checks are okay, but No credit cards please. Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers. A portion of each package purchased will be donated to For Pets’ Sake.

Trommer to appear at Mancos Library for Western Week



An evening with Rosemerry Whatola Trommer to celebrate Western Week at the Mancos Public Library, 211 West First St., Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. What people say about her “a very intriguing poet”, “luminous”, “her words pierce the heart”. Montezuma Community Economic Development Association Luncheon Scheduled



The Montezuma Community Economic Development Association (MCEDA) invites you to a lunch presentation at MCEDA’s annual fall community meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Dolores Community Center, 400 Riverside Avenue.

Learn about the future of Economic Development in Montezuma County and get insight into how businesses, organizations and the public can promote local economic development as well as learning about the local school initiatives for Mancos, Dolores and Cortez at this informative event.

The luncheon is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided by the Ponderosa Restaurant for $10. For more information call Dena Guttridge with the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce at 565-3414.




Early Childhood Council hosting family night



The Montelores Early Childhood Council invites families of preschoolers to come to their October Family Night. It’s a free night of Halloween fun on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ Annex on the corner of Adams and Montezuma across from Kemper Elementary. Dinner is included! Fall food drive taking place at the Dolores Christian Child Care



The Dolores Christian Child Care will have a Fall Food Drive on Oct. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. Please drop off nonperishable food to the Dolores Christian Child Care, 902 Hillside, Dolores. All food will be given to the Dolores Churches with food pantries. Call 882-2446 for more information.




Miniatures on display at Cortez library



The Four Corners Miniatures Club is currently displaying their miniatures and doll houses at the Cortez Public Library. The display will be up until the end of October. The club welcomes new members. Brochures are available at the library. Douglas May’s display of his cartoons continues through the end of October. Douglas is donating half of his sale proceeds to the library. The library is located at 202 N. Park St., Cortez, and may be reached by calling 565-8117.




Bingo night will be Oct. 30 in Dolores



The Dolores Rotary Club will kick off their annual bingo season by sponsoring a bingo night on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the Dolores Community Center located at 400 Riverside Avenue. A light supper and dessert will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. for $5 with bingo following at 7 p.m. Cards are $1 per game or $10 for the evening. All proceeds will benefit the Dolores Boosters Club.

The Dolores Rotary Club meets at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Ponderosa Restaurant. The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise. The public is invited to attend our meetings.

Chamber/Dolores Library to host Quickbooks class



Dolores Chamber and Dolores Public Library co-host an introduction to Quickbooks class Tuesday Oct. 30th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a ½ hour brown bag lunch. Region 9 Colorado SBDC and Ft. Lewis College are also sponsoring this event. Topics will include

How to get through the set up process, creating an effective Chart of Accounts, Small Business Accounting, Strategies for managing cash flow and how to make paying bills less painful.
