Rusty went on walkabout. Found wandering stray near Mancos, this very tiny sweet-natured longhaired Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix is still very thin and will need to tuck into a few more regular meals before he fills out to his normal weight. This little guy has got a silky russet-red colored coat with black and smoke markings, a mask and big brown eyes. Hes got big, alert ears that pop up at attention. Rusty is around two years old, and has terrific manners; hes housebroken, a good listener, and walks well on a leash. Hes great with other dogs and cats, and absolutely loves little kids. A new home can make this happy boy even happier. The shelter also has other dogs deserving of homes, and loving, affectionate cats, including a beautiful white flamepoint with orange ears and blue eyes, and lots of cute kittens of all colors. The cat room is nearly full, and these pets desperately need homes 14 cats and kittens came in on one day. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays; they will be open this Friday. The fee for adoption includes spaying or neutering, vaccination and microchipping. The shelter hopes to find a stainless-steel infant digital scale, if any medical offices happen to be getting rid of one. They also need donations of non-clumping cat litter, Iams or Purina kitten chow, and cleaning supplies such as unscented bleach. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910.
