The Colorado driver’s license office is moving to the Cortez Plaza at 2010 E. Main Street.

The local state driver’s license office is moving Thursday, Oct. 25.

The office will be closed that day so workers can relocate office equipment and furniture to the new location at 2010 E. Main. St. next to the Colorado Workforce Center.

The office will reopen in its new location on Friday, Oct. 26.

Mark Couch, a spokesman from the Colorado Department of Revenue, said the state will be renting the new building.

The new building is larger, newer and a little more expensive.

“It’s a better space for what we need,” he said.

The new building is 936 square feet compared to 800 square feet at the old location, 360 W. First St.

The new lease is $1,174 per month compared to $907 for the current lease.

The driver’s license office has been located on West First Street for more than 25 years.

The business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
