Rachel Allen, of Cortez, graduated on May 5 from the University of Northern Colorado, in Greeley, with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
She graduated summa cum laude, with a GPA of 3.97. She is a 2014 graduate of Mancos High School, where she was the class valedictorian.
She is the daughter of Mark Allen, Shiprock music teacher and the director of the Four Corners Community Band, and Jeanette Allen, director of curriculum and instruction for the Montezuma-Cortez School District.
She hopes to begin her nursing career in the Denver area.
