The Durango Adult Education Center will hold its graduation on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Durango Public Library.

According to Cortez site manager Al Huckins, one of the Cortez graduates will be the first person in her family to a high school diploma.

Christina Adams is married to William Adams and a mother of four: Matthew Hendricks, 7; Annabelle Hendricks, 4; Laycie Adams, 2; and James Adams, 1.

“I think the whole reason I did the GED was to show my kids that if I can do it, you can do it,” Adams said. “Follow in my footsteps, not past, family.”

Adams wants to start a career in diesel mechanics. She is also considering furthering her education and is very grateful to the teachers at the Durango Adult Education Center in Cortez.
