The annual Library Libations fundraiser to benefit the Cortez Public Library will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Cortez Journal located at 123 Roger Smith Ave. from 5 to 6 p.m. The event is hosted by the Cortez Public Library Advisory Board and will feature hors doeuvres, wine, a silent auction and a dessert auction.
The funds raised will be used to go toward maintaining or enhancing library operations and services. Joanie Howland is an advisory board member and in charge of the fundraiser.
Last year we made about $2,500 and this year we hope to match that, she said. The funds are used to buy new books, adult programming like speakers or musicians, and downloadable eBooks and audio books.
The library checks out about 160,000 items a year and Howland said they see a similar count in visits. This year both board members and patrons have contributed various pieces of artwork and desserts for the auctions. Tickets for the fundraiser are $25 per person and $40 per couple.
