I urge everyone to support Measure 3B on Election Day or on your mail-in ballot. People work better in pleasant spaces, and as a former coach at M-CHS, I can say that better facilities have to improve staff morale, teaching effectiveness, and student performance to some extent. They will also send the message that our children are important to us.
Also, to be against 3B because our schools dont perform as well as they should is to perpetuate the situation instead of fixing it. Our local school system has been underfunded for a long time, and as they say, you get what you pay for. When we support our schools better, they will get better, and our entire community will benefit. We also need to accept that our local property taxes are way below the national average, and this means that no matter what your income, you contribute less to the community here than most people do in most places. The price of dinner for two for the average family seems a small price to pay for the benefits 3B will bring to our community, especially since the State will more than double our contributions, leading to jobs we desperately need now.
For all these reasons, theres no good reason to be against 3B.
