Kudos to Becky Brunk, Orly Lucero and Alex Carter. Many of us thought it was hopeless, but they came up with a strategy of logical and common-sense reasons to pass 3B. They found ways to appeal to many more people than anyone has done before. The community stepped up in support; not just the usual suspects but people who dont normally speak up.
And thanks to the voters, many of whom had to work hard to open up their minds and hearts to a different way of seeing the relationship between education and their own money.
Well done all around! I hope that this can be a galvanizing force to pull more people into support of other community-building projects such as the Heart and Soul project, the Cortez Cultural Center, and Community Conversations! You all are on my list of local heroes.
