Editor:
I was reminded today, by my 12-year-old niece, of how important our veterans are, as I listen to her ask questions about my grandfather, her great-grandfather George Cisco, U.S. Army, 2nd Infantry, WWII.
We are very fortunate to be living in the United States of America, my niece quoted. We are free because of my great grandfather.
I told her yes, we are free, not only because of him, but because of the veterans who have served in the United States of America Armed Forces. And it is these brave men and women that protect our country and sometimes give up their lives to make sure we are kept safe, free, and that our Constitution is protected.
I would like to express my love and gratitude to Grandfather George Cisco, U.S. Army, 2nd Infantry, WWII, and my uncles Wilfred Sisco Sr., U.S. Army, Germany; Jay Bruce Sisco, U.S. Army, Vietnam, and Daniel Sisco, U.S. Marines, Puerto Rico, and to the men and women who serve our country unselfishly.
A special thank you to my niece, Briana R. Frank. for reminding me of not taking our freedom for granted and that the United States of America is a strong, free country. Thank you all. God bless you and your family.
