About this election, the worst thing a democratic people can do is gloat and not fix problems. Our economy is not based on the trickle down to the middle and so-called lower classes, but on providing the working opportunities that enable a middle class. Without that logic of money to the masses, people have to shop and eat cheap, and the specialty stores and good restaurants of Cortez have to close up. Many owners view it as a personal failure. If this economy pumps enough money where people who need to buy are able to buy, Montezuma County will thrive.
Wealth does not produce wealth: there are no more yachts to sail, no more cars to drive nor seasonal houses to live in. Regardless of elections, the circumstances of life generates our nations love for one another, and voting cannot change that fact.
