Ryans’ Custom Products, a personalization retailer in Dolores, is featured in the July issue of Insights, a national trade magazine.
Jerry and Marcie Ryan have been creating custom award trophies and plaques, memorials, name tags, badges and engravings since 1993.
In 2005, they relocated and expanded the business to a Southwestern-style studio and home west of Dolores.
“We were so thrilled for the publicity,” Marcie said of the Insight article. “It allows people to see what we are capable of doing, and that it is done locally.”
The article chronicles the couple’s business journey, which started in Telluride. After acquiring advanced engraving equipment, the business took off with regular orders from government agencies, sports groups, schools and banks. They serve clients in all the Four Corners states.
Some local projects include the Geer Memorial, the solar system displays on the Dolores River walk, and awards for the Tri-State firefighters competition and Montezuma County Fair events. They also supply badges and engravings for the Telluride and Purgatory ski areas, and the Glacier Club.
The next time you raise a glass at the WildEdge Brewing Collective, feast your eyes on the Ryan-made coaster. They say they’ll engrave anything, and have even engraved a howitzer cannon.
The Ryans have expanded their client base with their design skills and high-tech equipment, which includes a 35-watt Epilog Legend 24TT laser engraver and sand carvers that can etch into glass and stone.
“People are thrilled to find a local business for their engraving work, plus we deliver,” Ryan said.
The personal aspect of the business is inspiring, she said.
“We create memorials, awards and mementos that have a lot of meaning for the client and the recipient, and that is a special thing to be a part of,” Ryan said.
