On July 22, Lifeway Baptist Church voted to call Pastor Scott Hartle to their church.
According to a press release from the church, Hartle is returning to the ministry after recovering from a near-fatal motorcycle accident that required him to step down from the ministry for the past 1½ years. He has a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies, a minor in music and a master’s in ministry from Louisiana Baptist Theological Seminary.
He was raised on a farm in Pleasant View and is a lifelong resident of area, excluding the five years that he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, the press release said. He has been married 24 years to Tracy Hartle, and they have two sons, Joshua and Zachary.
“We are a conservative, Christ-centered, Bible-believing church,” Hartle said in an email.
The church is at East Empire Street and Colorado Highway 145 in Cortez. The morning service begins at 10:45 a.m.
