Questions for Susan Matteson



Monet or Manet? I like both but Monet for the lovely atmospheric qualities in his paintings.

Realism or Impressionism? Impressionism, there is an abstract quality to it that is alluring to me.

Painting inside or painting outside? Outside, less fumes and you hear and experience so much more.

Sunset or sunrise? Both. Moonrise and moonset are fun too.

People or animals? Both, one is just more furry...sometimes.

Small town or big city? I'm a small town girl. I love community.

Art museum or history museum? Both! I am a nut about history too.

Favorite painter from the past? Present? You don't have enough ink for that! To name but a few--past, I love all the Wyeth's, (including Jamie who is still in the present), Edgar Payne, Birge Harrison, Toulouse-Lautrec; present, T. A. Lawson, Clyde Aspevig, Russell Chatham, Brian Blood.

How do you spend your time when you aren't painting? Thinking about a painting or drawing out a painting.

Is the cup half full or half empty? I think it's full.
