Beginning with the Jan. 11 edition, the price of a copy of the Dolores Star will rise to 75 cents.
"The Star provides local news that is available from no other source," said Suzy Meyer, publisher, "and it's been many years since our single-copy price rose.
"I'm confident that each edition is worth far more than 75 cents to our readers."
Newsracks will require three quarters, and businesses that sell the Star also will charge 75 cents.
Dolores Star subscription rates remain unchanged at $18 in Montezuma County and $26 elsewhere, so purchasing a year's subscription is an effective way to save at least 50 percent off the single-copy price. To subscribe, call 564-6040.
The newsstand price of the Cortez Journal and the Mancos Times also will go up to 75 cents next week, and the price of the Durango Herald will be $1 daily and $1.50 on Sundays.
