Dolores won four of five wrestling duals last Saturday at the Kirtland Central (N.M) Tournament.
The Bears placed third behind New Mexico's Shiprock High School and Piedra Vista High School, the defending 4A New Mexico state champions.
Wyatt Wade, Deano Valdez and Kacee Davis each took first with 5-0 records at 145, 152 and 160 pounds.
Wyatt Mattausch and Kellen Gatzke both placed second at 132 and 170 with identical 4-1 marks on the day.
"We wrestled pretty tough. I felt the kids did a great job," Dolores coach Leo Garand said. "We won 30 out of 40 individual matches. It's a nice tune-up before we head to Page (Ariz.) this weekend."
The Page tourney is Friday and Saturday.
"I think it's a great tune-up for getting ready for regionals and state," Garand said. "There's suppose to be five states represented at Page. It will let us know where we're at right before regionals."
Before the Bears go to Arizona, they host Utah's Monticello High School tonight in the school auxiliary gym.
"It's a real tough home dual match. It's nice to get them on the schedule," said Garand about 1A Monticello. "It's a nice measuring tool to see where we're at right now."
Wrestling starts tonight at 7 p.m.
