The Dolores School Board of Education is expected to meet on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. in the district board room, 11 N. 6th St.
Board members are expected to discuss a proposed policy change regarding concurrent enrollment. Some high school students are allowed to enroll in college classes, both at the Southwest Colorado Community College and Fort Lewis College.
The proposed policy change would limit or reduce the number of classes students can take.
Students are expected to speak out about the proposed change.
Currently, the district spends about $65,000 a year on these classes.
"We offer more than other districts," Superintendent Scott Cooper said. "Obviously we want to continue to offer as much as we can."
But Cooper added, that the cost of concurrent enrollment is only going to continue to rise as the number of students attending Dolores High School increases and tuition continues to rise.
In addition, the board is expected to discuss Power School and how it affects eligibility.
The board also plans to discuss adding a permanent Verizon Tower to the school district's property near the bus barn.
"It is permanent revenue for us good cell coverage for everyone else," Cooper said.
The meeting was moved from Feb. 26 because of conference conflicts.
