Call for mentors
The Piñon Project will be at the Mancos Public Library on Wednesday, March 20, from 9:30 a.m. to noon to talk about our Mentoring Program. The Program matches at-risk youth with an adult volunteer who serves as a one-on-one mentor, friend and advocate. The Piñon Project's Mentoring Program is the only program of this type in the area. Community Cinema celebrates women
In celebration of Women's History Month, Community Cinema at the Mancos Public Library will host a screening of "Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines." This film traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman, from the birth of the comic book superheroine in the 1940's to the blockbusters of today. The film looks at how popular representations of powerful women often reflect in society's anxieties about women's liberation. The film will be shown on Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. in the MPL meeting room. Free and open to the public. For more information, call the library at 533-7600.
Music at the Distillery
The Mancos Valley Distillery presents The Porchlights, an organic, acoustic, soulful duo on Friday, March 22. Their music begins at 7 p.m. and the doors open at 5. Farmers market meeting
An initial meetings for participants in the Mancos Farmers Market will be at the Mancos Public Library on Thursday, April 4 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Call 769-4081 for more information.
VFW has Easter egg hunt and bake sale
The VFW Ladies Auxiliary #5231 will hold their annual Bake Sale and Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 30 at the Post Home, 136 Grand Avenue in Mancos. The ladies are asking the children to arrive at the Post at 1 p.m. for a short movie while the Bunny and helpers hide the eggs. The hunt will begin at 2 p.m. or as soon as the eggs are all hidden. The Easter Bunny is asking all children to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the less fortunate in our area. The youngsters will be divided up in groups for the hunt, ages toddler to 3, (may be helped by one adult); Headstart and kindergarten (no helpers); 1st & 2nd grades; 3rd & 4th grades, with a Scavanger Hunt for the 5th & 6th graders. Several of the bright colored, plastic eggs will hold notes that when returned to the Post Home will be redeemed for money or prizes. The Ladies Auxiliary will also have homemade baked goods available at the Post from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Movie Mondays

Kaleidoscope continues activities
Gentle yoga basics with Keneen is at 9 a.m. to 10:15. Yoga all levels with Keneen is at 10:30 a.m. to noon. The first class is free and drop ins are $12 and sign-in is encouraged. Register online at www.YogiKeneenDC.com.
Also, Zumba with "Coco" Chanelle, all levels is $5. The classes are on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30 to 6:30 and on Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m.
Indoor flea market ongoing event
The Mancos Flea Market is every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Old Hardware Store, 192 S. Main, across the bridge and just past The Absolute Bakery. Everyone is welcome to come sell, browse and buy. Spaces are available - 12'x12' for $15 for both days. Call 749-9320 for more information. Teen writing group meets on Wednesdays
Local writer Suzanne Strazza in partnership with the Mancos Public Library, will be leading a writer's group for teens ages 13-19. This group will meet at the Mancos Public Library, located at 211 W. First St., every Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. No prior writing experience is needed. There will be no homework or required writing for this class; it is merely to explore ideas and how to get them onto paper. For more information, please call MPL at 533-7600.
Teen Computer Club at Mancos library
The first Wednesday of each month at 5 to 6:30 p.m. teens will meet in the Community Meeting Room at the Mancos Public Library to work on various computer projects. All meetings will have hands on experience with digital devices, disassemble, build, etc. At times we will have regional computer geeks visit.
