Editor's note: This is a statement often attributed to Hitler; however, there is no historical record of Nazi legislative push for gun registration laws in 1935 nor of a Hitler speech on the date usually cited for this quote. The Nazi Weapons Law was passed in 1938, although the Weimar Republic had instituted gun registration in 1928, well before Hitler seized power in 1933 and conducted massive firearm searches and confiscation.
