I think as long as you don't have a crowing rooster, chickens should be allowed in town. When Cortez was young, nearly all town folks kept chickens, grew a few vegetables and had fruit trees. It is a grand thing to raise some your food yourself. I just returned from Phoenix, not a suburb but Phoenix, and my friends there keep chickens. Any chicks that turn out to be roosters are eaten, and the hens are kept for eggs.
Whatever animals we keep, remember to be a good neighbor and not allow our animals to inconvenience our neighbors.
