State program prevents introduction of mussels
Lake Nighthorse will be open to motorized boating on May 15.
Groundhog Lake will open on May 15 to motorized boating. Inspections for non-native quagga and zebra mussels are mandatory.

Mussels were in the nooks and crannies of a houseboat, discovered parked on Mancos Hill by a Colorado Parks and Wildlife official in 2017. The boat had recently come from Lake Powell, which is contaminated with the invasive and problematic mussel.
