The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for eastern Utah and western Colorado.
Beginning today, showers and thunderstorms will become widespread as a front moves through the area. Snow accumulations are possible as early as this afternoon with snow expected to continue through the night.
By Thursday morning, the snow levels could drop as low as 6,000 feet across with the majority of snow falling in southern and central Colorado, but snow could also come to northern Colorado and Utah.
The majority of the snow will fall in Colorado’s central and southern mountains above 9,000 feet.
Telluride and Silverton areas may accumulate up to 14-15 inches of snow. Wolf Creek Pass is under a winter storm warning until 6 a.m. Friday, with 15-20 inches of accumulated snow.
In Cortez, the chance of rain is listed at 50 percent Wednesday, 30 percent and Thursday, 60 percent Thursday night. A chance of rain is expected to persist in Cortez through Sunday.
The Durango area could see accumulations of up to 1 inch of snow.
