Farmers and ranchers in Montezuma, Archuleta, San Miguel, La Plata, and Dolores counties may be eligible for low-interest emergency loans to help cover losses they sustained as a result of the effects of drought conditions according to Rick Cervenka, senior farm loan officer, with the Farm Service Agency.
“Any farmer or rancher in that category who is interested in a loan should visit the Farm Service Agency county office as soon as possible,” Cervenka said. They must apply no later than Sept. 9, 2013. No applications may be accepted after this date. Other eligibility requirements also must be met.
