Editor:
It seems the tax-and-spend limousine liberals (pretending to be Republicans) of Cortez are still spending like drunken sailors on shore leave. This time, they want to build a new fancy-pants city hall.
Right now, in Cortez, there is a big empty old Walmart store, just waiting to be repurposed as a new city hall. Even better, there is about to be an old empty high-school building that could easily and cheaply be repurposed as city hall.
But the tax-and-spend limousine liberals are busy planning to build and tear down public buildings like they are Las Vegas casinos. Public buildings are not Las Vegas casinos, to be torn down and built bigger on a whim. Public buildings are built with tax dollars, and in this day and age, when everyone is tightening their belts, city government can be no exception.
Building a new fancy-pants city hall, and buying a fleet of expensive, low-mileage, Connecticut soccer-mom grocery getters for police cars that only get used one shift per day shows that government waste is alive and well in Cortez.
And by spending our money like Las Vegas billionaires, they are gambling our future away.
