Rocky Mountain PBS will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing and exploring outer space from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Powerhouse Science Center, 1333 Camino del Rio.
Participants will explore the solar system, make space buttons, learn about an astronaut from Durango and check out telescopes with 4 Corners Astronomy/FLC Observatory.
The free event is an immersive experience to convey the impact of this milestone for those who did not witness the moon landing, while celebrating the nostalgia for those who did.
At 5 p.m., the world premiere of the first part of “American Experience: Chasing the Moon” will be shown at Powerhouse. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. for a reception with Chasing the Moon Week partners. RSVP at www.rmpbs.org/ChasingTheMoon or bit.ly/30UpdjX.
