Freestyle defensive arts self-defense classes will be offered beginning Monday, July 1, and Wednesday, July 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Mancos Community Center. The classes will be taught by Mancos resident Brian Williams, who has been a practitioner of martial arts for more than 30 years and is a certified full instructor of Kelly Worden's "Worden Defense System." He has trained in tae kwon do, tang soo do, krav maga and modern arnis.
Freestyle defensive arts' aim is to teach one how to use their whole body and everything around them to their own advantage to help them in a self-defense situation. The curriculum pulls from principles, concepts and techniques from an eclectic mix of martial arts and military combatives from around the world to help one be as prepared as possible in a short amount of time.
Classes are $10 per class or $70 per month. The first class is free. Contact Brian at (970) 903-5576.
