Two-vehicle crash causes injuries in downtown Cortez

A two-vehicle crash Tuesday at the intersection of Ash Street and Main Avenue in Cortez caused injuries to at least two people. A southbound minivan struck a eastbound Jeep broadside under a traffic light about 1:30 p.m. Cortez Police and Cortez Fire Protection District responded to the scene. Information on the cause of the crash was not available. A passenger from the van was taken on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance. A man from the Jeep was put on a backboard and also transported to an ambulance. The intersection was temporarily closed to allow the injured to get assistance and to clear the damaged vehicles.
