I am thankful for parents who said “no” to me when I wanted something for nothing. We have a lot of people who think just because they want something, someone else should buy it for them. I am thankful that my parents taught me to solve my problems rather then crying about it and throwing tantrums until someone else fixed my problem. I am thankful my parents taught me it’s OK to be second, third or even last as long as I put in my best effort. So many think they deserve ribbons or trophies for just appearing; God forbid they get their feelings hurt for not being number one.
My point is, people need to work hard for any fulfilment in their lives. Doing everything for someone doesn’t give them any purpose to contribute to their community, which brings me to “I am thankful” for men who protect our rights. Men with honor, and courage. Our sheriff is a good man. You don’t have to like him but slapping him down is wrong, too. Those who bellyache against him would be the first ones to call him when their rights have been imposed on.
Thank you, Sheriff Spruell; I am thankful for you.
