Radar blind spot exposes Cortez to undetected, dangerous storms

Cortez lies in one of the largest weather forecast gaps in the nation. Its shortcomings impact safety, business and even our water
Jessica Daves spotted and photographed this funnel cloud north of Cahone last summer. Although the National Weather Service reported funnels closer to its Grand Junction station, it went undetected. Its existence was confirmed only by multiple reports of sightings from the ground.
